1.2 Million is Anastasia’s debut film, a short drama exploring loneliness among the elderly in the modern landscape. Set in North Yorkshire, U.K. it is inspired by generational changes in attitudes towards family values. Produced as part of her studies at the University of York, it screened at BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival in 2019 and LUMA Film Festival, where it won the Orillo Sponsor Award for its outstanding casting and industry potential. Awarded 'Best Student Short Film of the Month' by Monthly Indie Film Festival in September 2020.
The film is inspired by personal experiences. Born in Russia, and having moved away to the Netherlands at the age of seven, the separation from her family prompted Anastasia to engage with the themes of loneliness and human connection.
